Years ago my grandmother gave me a book of Christmas music titled “Hansen’s 123 Greatest of All Christmas Songs” that includes this song. Many years later I got a recording of Nancy Wilson singing it and heard it orchestrated the first time. Nancy Wilson has always reminded me of Dinah Washington, and I hoped to pay tribute to them in this rendition. This one has a beautiful trombone solo, what we’ve come to call a trombolo here at the Dowell household.
